What Is Glass Fusing?
Fusing joins pieces of coloured glass into one smooth object by melting them together in a kiln.
How it works
You arrange pieces and powders of compatible glass into a design on a flat base. The piece then goes into a kiln, which heats it to around 800 °C so the layers flow together, and cools it slowly over hours so it does not crack. Depending on temperature, glass can just tack together or melt into a fully rounded surface.
What you can make
- Small dishes and plates;
- bright glass «paintings»;
- pendants and magnets.
Because the kiln work takes hours, fused pieces are collected a little later.
Try it yourself
The best way to understand it is to make something with your own hands. Join our glass workshops in Moscow — beginners welcome, all materials included. Questions? Email info@glassbaker.art, WhatsApp or Telegram.
